To deliver a personal service in helping people achieve their exercise goals by providing an environment which is friendly, motivational and non-competitive.
Progression Fitness
Progression Fitness is owned by Jon Moyse, who opened the gym in 2001. It has steadily grown other the last ten years and now has approximately 200 members - some of whom have been with us since we began and many more very consistent and loyal members have since joined us.
We pride ourselves in encouraging and helping you exercise correctly, in order that you can achieve the shape and fitness that you want in half the time. Whether it is weight loss, toning, general fitness or sport specific, we are on hand and ready to help. Progression Fitness is a non-competitive, social environment, which is a great place for you to enjoy your exercise sessions.
Instructors
Jon Moyse - Owner and Instructor
I grew up in Devon and moved to London in 1988 when I left school to become an apprentice footballer at Manchester United and Brentford Football Clubs. In 1990 I decided to change my career path and moved into the fitness industry.
I started working in a large company's corporate gym in Swindon as a gym instructor, eventually managing the gym. During my ten years there, I gained my Sports Science degree and developed a keen interest in Pilates. Realising the benefits of this exercise, I studied the subject in more detail, resulting in my Body Control Pilates qualification.
Opening Progression Fitness in 2001 has given me the opportunity to continue to train members with the same enthusiasm that I started with. This has led to me adding a new gym to my portfolio in Andover, Hampshire. I am motivated by, and get a real kick out of, being a part of helping people transform themselves by regular and consistent exercise, together with developing a healthier lifestyle.
Outside of the gym, I am a keen cyclist. I compete in cross country mountain bike races every year and run a team of ten equally enthusiastic riders.
Karen Kennedy - Gym and Class Instructor
I'm a 'local' who grew up in Newbury. You'd have most likely found me on the hockey pitch and I even played for England Under 18's for a while before deciding to see the world.
I've studied and worked in Liverpool and Yorkshire where sports and coaching were a key component of my life. My return to Newbury offered the chance to develop my passion for fitness into a career and whilst working for Royal Mail I studied for my Personal Training diploma (reps level 3) having qualified in July 2010. I feel I've struck gold joining the team at Progression - the wealth of experience and enthusiasm makes for an incomparable atmosphere!
Away from the gym I am always up for a challenge; a would-be surfer; a 'have a go' climber; and, more frequently, a keen runner.
